Concentrations Saint Joseph’s University’s online Master of Science in Health Administration gives students a choice between concentrations in Informatics or Organizational Development and Leadership, or a General concentration, which allows students to have more flexibility in their coursework.

1. General: This concentration explores the complex moral and ethical health care considerations that often dominate executive-level decision-making. By examining issues from genetic testing before birth to end-of-life care and euthanasia, students will gain new perspective on proper health care administration at an individual and policy-making level.

2. Informatics: Coursework in this concentration focuses on effective management, development, and evaluation of electronic medical records and other emerging health care technologies. Built for today’s rapidly changing digital health care environment, the Informatics concentration covers issues related to IT infrastructure and applications with emphasis on improving the quality of care through enhanced data management.

3. Organizational Development and Leadership: This concentration is designed to enhance your skills in managing and developing healthy organizational cultures in healthcare environments. Coursework explores group dynamics and team leadership, organizational theories and systems thinking, leadership competencies for guiding organizations, and implementing successful change management throughout complex healthcare systems.

Admission requirements According to Saint Joseph’s University, to be eligible for admission to the Master of Health Administration program, applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree from selected regionally accredited colleges or universities.
  • A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75 is required.
  • Work experience in health services is preferred. For those without a strong background in healthcare, a review of health-related undergraduate courses, internships, practicum experience, volunteer work, GPA, and overall work experience will be considered.
