“Benedictine’s MBA in Health Administration online demonstrates how financial, operations, and marketing activities are applied to health organizations such as hospitals, clinics, pharmaceutical companies, home health care providers, and other health care settings. As a graduate of the MBA Health Care Administration concentration, you will be prepared to assume a leadership role in health care administration and make an important contribution to better patient care. With this advanced degree, you will have the capabilities to work either as a specialist in charge of a specific clinical department or as a generalist who manages an entire facility or system. Courses in the Health Care Administration program’s curriculum address the business of health care with courses developed and taught by faculty in Benedictine’s CEPH accredited Master of Public Health program.”

Concentrations The Health Care Administration concentration of the MBA program requires three concentration-specific courses (choose from four course options) in addition to your foundation and managerial coursework for a total of 17 courses:

  1. MPH 602 Public Health Systems: This course provides an overview of the history, basic structures and operations of public health and health care delivery systems, including the growing use of electronic medical records (EMRs).
  2. MPH 605 Environmental Health: Study environmental factors, including biological, physical and chemical factors that affect community health. Learn to conduct research on an environmental health topic; apply the regulatory framework for controlling environmental exposures; apply control measures to reduce the impact of environmental hazards; and analyze, select and communicate appropriate environmental health interventions.
  3. MPH 664 Marketing of Public Health: In this course, you will explore concepts of marketing theory and study how to successfully execute different marketing strategies in the health industry.
  4. From MPH 680 The Business of Health care: This course covers government programs, the managed care environment and the administrative simplification transactions as enacted as part of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). You will develop an in-depth understanding of how health care works in the US through the understanding of physician and hospital structures, reimbursement models, insurance operations, managed care and ethics.

Admission requirements According to Benedictine University, to be eligible for admission to the program, applicants must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 (students with an undergraduate GPA of 2.5 to 2.9 will be considered for conditional admission based on other aspects of their admissions application)
